Our volunteers are the heart of Kidney Warriors of Trinidad & Tobago.  Without them, we would not be able to continue to support the many people affected by Renal Failure who rely on us for information and support. We support, engage, and encourage our volunteers; doing our best to ensure volunteers know how highly valued they are. Our volunteers’ knowledge and expertise are vital in helping us to improve the lives of kidney warriors.

Our volunteers are involved in the following activities.

  • providing support to callers on our helpline

  • giving one-to-one peer support through our telephone buddies service, providing emotional support to people who are affected by Kidney Disease

  • fundraising, raising money for our charity

  • providing face-to-face support and information to patients and their families across Trinidad & Tobago through our Local Support Groups

  • moderating our online forum

  • raising awareness in their local communities through awareness days and attendance at events

Volunteering to help the Kidney Warriors Trinidad & Tobago can be a very rewarding experience. When you volunteer you get rewarded with smiles, friendship, and that warm feeling that you get knowing that you made a difference in someone’s life. Your talents can be used in many ways; if public speaking is your cup of tea, you might want to become a speaker and help spread the word. Prefer office work? We are always in need of volunteers to help with updating our records, imputing information in our database, and helping with our mailings. Or if fundraising and events are your forte, we could use your help staging our many special events.

Our volunteers have a range of experiences: some have had a kidney disease diagnosis and are patients themselves, some have supported a friend or family member, others have professional or personal skills that can support our activities. Both men and women volunteer for us and range in age from 18 upwards. In some cases, children under 18 may volunteer with permission from their parents or guardian. Many of our volunteer roles can be undertaken in your own home and office-based roles are always in our Valsayn office.
